Since the pandemic, the business and employment landscape has created unprecedented opportunities in the evolution of self for entrepreneurs. As people are more accustomed to working remotely for and with businesses, fertile ground abounds for entrepreneurs to start their own business, no matter where they live. In doing so, entrepreneurs find themselves learning and evolving with the times to accomplish all the components necessary to business success.

In this episode, I discuss this evolution of self in launching and growing a business with the CEO and Co-Founder of MakeMyMove, Mike Rutz. Mike shares some wise insights into personal growth that results in business growth. We discuss how things won’t always be tidy, hiring and firing well, setting expectations and giving people leeway to make things happen, and much more. I found Mike’s advice on working internally first in order to work externally, and the importance of frequent uncomfortable conversations, to be deeply sage advice.

“If you’re not having uncomfortable conversations, you’re not moving the needle. Your job is to come in and be willing to have those uncomfortable conversations, and manage those in a way that’s productive for yourself and for the individual who you’re having that conversation with. You have to be able to have uncomfortable conversations when you’re leading a team. Otherwise, you just can’t address the areas that need improvement.” -- Mike Rutz
